Percy is very much like his guns- clever, temperamental, and built to misfire at the worst possible time. Every chamber of his training holds a different kind of danger, clicking into place when needed.

Chamber one : Fighter.

At his foundation, Percy is a fighter. He’s trained with all kinds of weapons and armor, but his strength is keeping distance between himself and the enemy. That doesn’t mean he’s helpless up close- he can fence with a rapier or draw a longsword if cornered. His fighter training gives him Action Surge for sudden bursts of energy, Extra Attack for rapid fire or steel, Second Wind to keep going when he should be down, and Resolve (or Indomitable), the stubborn refusal to break when the odds are against him.

Chamber two: Gunslinger.

This is where Percy breaks from every other fighter. As a gunslinger, he’s not just wielding weapons-he’s inventing them. His grit fuels trick shots that can disarm, stagger, or cripple enemies, and when precision won’t do, he gambles with Violent shots that risk his weapon for the chance to drop a foe in one strike. He built firearms like The List,and Bad News, each one carrying both brilliance and danger- elegant designs that hit harder than anything else on the field, but with misfires that always threaten to bite back.

Chamber three: Orthax’s magic.

Then there’s the shadow Orthax left behind. The demon’s influence gave Percy a thread of magic- not enough to make him a spellcaster, but just enough to leave its mark. Hex curls around its mark like black smoke, clinging close enough that he can track them no matter how far they run. Friends doesn’t sound much better-slick words on the tongue, the sort of silver tongue charm that a devil would use when it wants you to sign your name in blood. And Minor Illusion? Just enough to twist the edges of reality, to make someone doubt their own eyes, their own senses. None of it feels clean. Every spell carries that same weight-manipulative, unnerving, like there’s always something darker tugging at the strings.

Chamber four: Feats and skills.

On top of invention and combat, Percy sharpened himself in other ways. Sharpshooter lets him take reckless shots that hit harder than they should. Tough makes him sturdier than he looks. Keen Mind means his memory never falters and he always knows exactly where he is. His skill in Investigation ties it all together- whether solving puzzles, breaking down machines, or dissecting a battlefield, Percy sees the cracks in the world and knows how to pry them open.

If his skills are built like his guns, then his personality is no different-complex, dangerous, and impossible to take in all at once. To understand him, you have to turn the barrel again and see what each chamber of his character holds.

Chamber one: Asshole.

While it would be easy enough to blame a lot of Percy's "assholery" on Orthax's influence, that would be disqualifying a lot of times where Percy was a downright asshole even after Orthax's removal. Percy is often seen throwing his last name around, especially when he thinks there is a chance for him to get the upper hand. Some of Percy's asshole ways show up in how he chooses to achieve a goal- for example when he wanted to make a point to teach Grog a lesson about trying to steal items from his lab. He kept silent, and when the acid started to burn, he suggested that water would help cure the burning when he knew that water would do the opposite.

Chamber two: Genius and Insane.

Percy really straddles the thin line between genius and insanity. On the one hand, he is very wise. Wise enough to figure out a loophole around a fey-bound contract dealing with a threshold crest with Garmelie and act as the unofficial lawyer for Vox Machina when he had to act as one to get Keyleth out of prison. But- Percy's intelligence also tends to have him act unhinged at times, such as when he mixes highly combustible chemicals to win a cannonball contest. Or when he locks himself up in his lab and loses track of time tinkering.


Chamber three: Observant.

While Percy is brilliant, there is something to be said where his intelligence would dip into morale boosting. The best example of this was what he did with Westruun, where he took the time to carve the names of the people who lived there and the story of what happened in the city- not as a way to promote the group's name but because it was the best way to boost morale. In Pery's eyes, humans live as long as what they build endures, and everyone would feel the loss of a city.


Chamber four: Guilt-ridden.

The feeling of Guilt- helped shape Percy's personality almost as much as his need for revenge. There's survivor's Guilt for being the only De Rolo for the longest time. There is Guilt for leaving his sister for dead when she was alive the whole time. There is Guilt for being responsible for bringing the concept of guns and their devastating effects, and then there's the newest form of Guilt- being the one responsible for Vex'ahlia's death.

Chamber five: Caring.

Percy has shown signs of caring, especially towards those he has chosen to be his family. The best example of Percy being caring was when he gave Vex'ahlia her title. He knew that Vex'ahlia was dealing with feelings of inadequacy. He gave her a title that not only raised her in a station that put her above her father, but he also told her that she didn't need it since, according to him- she was already better than him and had more than "high classed" members of society had- Heart. Another shining example of Pery being caring was when he had Vax'ildan's shrine to the Raven Queen built. He built the shrine so Vax'ildan could still stay with the group even when he was the champion of the Raven Queen.

⯌ Hex You place a curse on a creature that you can see within range. Until the spell ends, you deal an extra 1d6 Necrotic damage to the target whenever you hit it with an attack roll. Also, choose one ability when you cast the spell. The target has Disadvantage on ability checks made with the chosen ability. If the target drops to 0 Hit Points before this spell ends, you can take a Bonus Action on a later turn to curse a new creature.

⯌ Friends For the duration, you have advantage on all Charisma checks directed at one creature of your choice that isn't hostile toward you. When the spell ends, the creature realizes that you used magic to influence its mood and becomes hostile toward you. A creature prone to violence might attack you. Another creature might seek retribution in other ways (at the DM's discretion), depending on the nature of your interaction with it.

⯌ Minor Illusion You create a sound or an image of an object within range that lasts for the duration. The illusion also ends if you dismiss it as an action or cast this spell again. If you create a sound, its volume can range from a whisper to a scream. It can be your voice, someone else's voice, a lion's roar, a beating of drums, or any other sound you choose. The sound continues unabated throughout the duration, or you can make discrete sounds at different times before the spell ends. If you create an image of an object - such as a chair, muddy footprints, or a small chest - it must be no larger than a 5-foot cube. The image can't create sound, light, smell, or any other sensory effect. Physical interaction with the image reveals it to be an illusion, because things can pass through it. If a creature uses its action to examine the sound or image, the creature can determine that it is an illusion with a successful Intelligence (Investigation) check against your spell save DC. If a creature discerns the illusion for what it is, the illusion becomes faint to the creature.
